1.1 billion to compare drugs and other ways of treating specific conditions

U.S. Economic stimulus to provide substantial amounts money for the federal government to compare the effectiveness of different treatments for the same illness.

Researchers are to get $1.1 billion to compare drugs, medical devices, surgery and other ways of treating specific conditions, and advise President Obama and Congress on how to spend the money.

The program responds to a growing concern that doctors have little or no solid evidence of the value of many treatments.

Unless the researchers compare current medical treatments for things like stress, depression, sleeplessness, and chronic ailments like arthritis with other ways like Homeopathic and Bach Flower Remedies they will be of no real service to the country and its health system.

To compare failed treatments against failed treatments will not serve anyone. It would seem from all I have read that having decided the medical system is the best system they can only test inside that paradigm. This is the ostrich with its head in the sand.

The pharmacopoeia of the United States includes Homeopathy along with all medicines and is recognized and so should be examined without prejudice. Homeopathy wa after respected member of the medical community in 1900 with hospitals and schools and clinics across the country until the AMA and the pharmaceutical companies spent millions and still do to discredit the concepts and ability of Homeopathy.

Compare the efficacy, side effects and cost of medicine and treatments against Homeopathy and Bach Flower remedies and let us all look at patient satisfaction, amelioration, and cost.

In the end it’s all about the cost of what we are prescribed and does it work?

The program can be of great use to the American people if in fact it is allowed to go outside the narrow confines of medicine.
